Indigenous Guardians
We partner with indigenous guardians to help us identify biodiverse ecosystems which need protection or degraded ecosystems which need restoration. We plot it on the map, assess any threats and work with them to gather data.
Step 2
Select Your Project
You select a project from a range of terrestrial or marine habitats including rainforests, mangroves or coral reefs.
Step 3
Community Empowerment
80-90% of funds go to indigenous guardians to help them remain in place and protect nature.
This could include forest ranger programmes or community empowerment such as improved healthcare and quality education.
Step 4
Track Your Impact
Individuals and companies use the Native map and dashboard to monitor their Squares and track their impact across carbon, biodiversity and community.
Protect Biodiversity
Indigenous guardians protect the world's most precious and biodiverse ecosystems, and yet receive less than 1% of climate finance.
Fair and Square
Our holistic ABC methodology goes beyond carbon to assess the true value of each Square.
Carbon
We calculate carbon density using on the ground data and satellite imaging.
Additionality
We forecast the risks and changes to carbon and biodiversity. Projects which restore degraded ecosystems will score higher than projects which protect existing ecosystems.
Biodiversity
We measure biodiversity, including intactness, species count, the presence of endemic species, and their vulnerability to extinction.
Community
We examine how thoroughly the project consults and includes the views of local indigenous guardians, and the impact the project will have on their quality of life.
